XP Scanning Removable Drive

Hi,

When I plug my external USB drive in XP it seems to scan every file on the drive before letting me access it. This is currently taking a while because I have so much data on it!

Does anybody know how to stop this scan? I have already turned off autoplay but it doesn't seem like this is causing the problem.

Install TweakUI, and disable Autoplay for the drive letter.

Ok i've tried the above but it seems to be disabled already as i've already disabled autoplay for all drives in the operating system!

Anymore ideas?

What type of scan is being performed?
Is it a scan to see what is on the drive aka Autoplay or is it a chkdsk type of scan?
