Hey all,

I am running XP on a laptop and tried to do a defrag. The system informed me that i had to run chkdsk first, which would run at next start up.

Upon the next start up i got a message like:

cannot access directory file system is ntfs

And the system boots as normal. I am getting this message everytome i boot up now.

Any help on how to get rid of this message or to run the chkdsk/defrag?

Ta!

Try hitting F8 during startup and choosing Safe mode with command prompt. You should then be able to run it from the dos prompt.
