just use ryanvm hotfix pack to update your xp disc until sp3 comes out

It'll search 'SP3' - that's how I found the thread again, anyway!

My XP disc already has WMP11 and the like on, any point in using that hotfix?

RyanVM's pack contains all updates from SP2 until the date it says on the download. It is then slipstreamed into the SP2 disc to bring it up to date.

Up to you whether you want to bother with that.

Just was on the disc I got mate. I got my own legit key which MS replaced for me a while ago as it expired, but I lost the disc so downloaded another one from NNTP. Not sure if it's legal, but my key works fine with it :confused:

Legal enough. Chances are it's already had the RyanVM (or similar) pack applied, along with other updates (like WMP11)

Should be able to integrate WMP11 and other stuff like DirectX with nLite.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 is now due in the first half of 2008:

MicrosoftWatch think that this delay was to persuade more people into buying Vista.

Keep in mind that SP3 will not offer any new functionality, it will be a roll up of all the updates post SP2.

So handy for doing a fresh install of the OS from scratch but you won't get anything more than you would get using XPSP2 + Windows updates at the same time.
