Ive just put Conroe rig together but when i try installing windows XP it says there are no hard drives present.

The drive is detected at start up and in the bios.

Any ideas?

You normally need to press F6 at the start of the setup and insert a floppy disc with the sata drivers on when asked to load windows on a sata drive.

:)

Hmm ok, was an OEM drive so where will i get the drivers? Will they be on manufacturers site?

So I install the SATA drivers before XP then? Only recieved a CD ROM with drivers on with the motherboard no floppy disk

You should be able to download them from *** manufacturers site then stick them on a floppy. It's a pain isn't it

Its ok i just checked a bit of mboard manual on raid setups and i can make a floppy disk from the CD ROM which I got with motherboard if i boot from cd rom with it in drive ^^ ill give it a bash

If you insert the floppy disk in the drive anf press F6 and it says something along the lines of "no drivers were found" or some other crap like that then make sure you press S to load them manually from the floppy disk.

:)

I just booted from the CD ROM and it said my as rock conroe mboard isnt a sata support motherboard ?? now im confused

OK i downloaded the drivers off seagate site and put them on floppy (well it made 2 for some reason) but when i hit F6 and it says "press enter to install" or whatever it does nothing. Really getting annoyed with it now.

You don't need hard drive drivers. You need drivers for your SATA controller.
