Hi there,

I am trying to access the C drive on another machine on my network via "\\ComputerName\C$".

It prompts for a username and password...

I type in the admin username and password for that machine, but it says its incorrect and doesn't let me in.

Is there something I have to setup?

Thanks.

so you have pc1 and pc2

from pc2, you're typing \\pc1\c$ then getting a username prompt, and you're typing in the login for pc1 and it's not working?

Correct.

EDIT: Could it be to do with a service i have disabled? - I mean I can share folders normally....

administrative shares could be disabled on pc1 (in gpedit.msc i think)

can't remember if it'd still show the username/password prompt if it's off (when it tries to reach \\computername, not sure if it resolves that first, then the share...

Got no idea how to check this :/

Got the Group Policy window open, but no idea where to go from there.

Now saying it can't have multiple connections...:/ (that is using any username/password combination)
