XP SP3 now on MSDN

I have just slipstreamed my install disks with SP3 with out any problems. I have also installed it directly on to my mum's laptop (fully patched XP SP2 install) and it's running perfectly:cool:

Just installed SP3 and my pc now has no network icon on taskbar or in control panel's network connection. Also device manager is just blank. Many other users reported the same issues I am having and Microsoft is working on that.

However, despite missing network icon and blank device manager, everything including internet works fine.

Damn. They didn't include IE7, WMP11, WGA.

Code:
Straight after a full install of slipstreamed SP3 there is 78.6MB:

[B]High Priority - (1)[/B]
01: Windows Malicious Removal Tool - April 2008

[B]Software, Optional - (4)[/B]
01: Root Certificates Update
02: Windows Media Player 11
03: Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0
04: Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1

Code:
and after you install the above items it then asks for the following 27MB.
(If IE7 is not installed prior to update)

[B]High Priority - (3)[/B]
01: Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2
02: Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack1
03: Security Update for Windows XP With Media Format Runtime 9.5 and 11

Code:
and after you install the above items it then asks for the following 8.8MB.

[B]High Priority - (1)[/B]
01: Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 SP1

Code:
and after you install the above items IE7 needs installing (14.7MB).

There are no more updates once the above has been installed.
- TOTAL = 129.1MB extra to download after SP3 slipstream
- (Unless you nlite the above)

Code:
P.S There are no reboots needed for the above updates to finalize except IE7.

I thought you could intergrate service packs in nlite?

You can but for me it didn't work properly. When I reloaded the image of my XP CD I made with SP3 slipstreamed via NLite it still said "service pack 2". I tried it anyway and it wouldn't let me install without installing a CD Key, which SP3 is supposed to let you do. When I slipstreamed via the traditional medthod all is well :).

Worth getting? Is the performance any good and are there issues?

Anyone know if it's possible to patch the SP3 UXTheme.dll? Will nLite do it?
Would have thought nLite would need to be updated fully for SP3. I know nuhi (nlite developer) has released some beta builds of a SP3 aware nLite but he might need a few days or weeks to get it fully sorted and working with SP3.

Stupid Question...

But can I use the 'Patcher 5.5' from Softpedia to get my themes working or do I need to do it the old fashioned way?, or do I need something called 'Replacer'... (told you it was a stupid question!)

Is there a new UXTheme.dll I need etc... I tried to search but everything seems to be for the RC not the finished product?!?...

Cheers
Sim :)
