Hi all

i currently have Windows XP on my pc but im tempted to move to Vista so i can experiment with DX10.

what im wondering is, is there anyway to upgrade from xp to vista

or

would i have to back up all my information, format my harddrives and then install vista fresh and try to move my old information back onto the hard drives.

also is there still compatability problems with any games and programs when ran in vista?

thanks for any info

Loki

Depends on the version of Vista that you get, from what little I know a retail copy will let you do an upgrade whereas an OEM copy won't.

I'd be tempted to start from scratch with an OS. There's gonna be a lot of stuff that needs registry settings to work properly and games will not generally appear in the Games Explorer window unless installed correctly. If you have documents, videos, pictures etc stored on a separate drive to your OS then you shouldn't need to move those but you will have to point the default My Documents folders to the appropriate place after installing.

Very few programs don't work under Vista.
