I have been using Vista work for the past few months and am getting more persuaded to make the jump. Its on a laptop which has a X2 4400+ 2GB Ram, 200GB Sata HDD and 7800 GeforceGo.

Been using it for 2 years almost and going well, fair amount on though about half full at the moment. Lots of pictures and photoediting software, etc plus the normal office, etc.

I tried also recently seeing what I will have problems with upgrading but the Vista Advisor refuses to scan anymore and not matter how many times i reinstall never works. But i remember nero would have to go, Zone Alarm did but now they are Vista supported.

Anyway, what I am after is the best course of action. Just upgrade now. Or backup onto something incase it all goes wrong. Will it be a good idea, bad idea etc. System runs ok at the moment, but can imagine Vista might make programs and files load quicker. But want to know from those who have used it longer than me. I am still a little apprehensive about it.

I would hang back until you can't live iwth your current install, why bother? ou say your system is OK just now. That's great - if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Sounds like a good idea, probably will end purchasing some external hard drive to back up my Laptop as it runs good atm. And don't want to lose my holiday pictures. :)

Thanks for the advice.

There is little need to (I won't say upgrade OS as it's not) XP is still receiving security updates and SP, so leave it alone..
