Hi

Im having a few problems with my PC.
It all started when i tried to reinstal win XP on a dual boot system. For some unknown reason XP removed my Vista files and i could only use XP.

Problem #1
After reinstalling both operating systems i began having problems with starting up my PC.

When i start my PC it just gets stuck on the BIOS EVGA logo screen. At this point it just locks up and does nothing.

Occasionally if i hammer the TAB key i can get into the POST screen, at this point it just gets stuck on 'Detecting SATA devices'
i can also sometimes get into the BIOS menu.

On occasion the PC will randomly manage to get past this stage and boot up. I thought this problem would be caused by the dual boot and i have removed
Vista. Unfortunatly this did not solve the problem.

Any idea's how i might get this fixed?

Problem #2
After removing Vista from my second HDD i still get the dual boot menu asking me to selected XP or Vista when my PC manages to start up. I can only imagine that this means some how vista
files were installed onto my first HDD.
Does anyone know how i might find these files so that they can be removed?

Thanks for your help

Re: Re: Problem #2

Hmm ive checked what you suggested and all i can see is

Code:
;
;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.
;
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT

Cant see anything about vista :confused:
