Xp, vista or windows 7?

Hey,

Having some problems with vista on a computer, and am thinking of formatting and starting again.

Xp is getting a bit old now, and i do quite like vista. Is windows 7 any good? considering home premium is only 70 quid at the moment i may just pre order that (and the only thing from professional i would use would be "Run many existing Windows XP productivity applications in Windows 7.²" - which tbh im not sure i even would...i assume all applications from xp work in windows 7?)

Windows 7 is top notch mate. I went from XP to 7 and its much faster and just overall a very solid OS.

Can you get it on beta at the moment, then upgrade to full when it comes out (by pre ordering now)?

not sure about upgrading. i hate the whole concept altogether. i always do a clean install.

You can download 7100RC from microsoft now, Pre ordering now is a good idea as it will be a higher price when its released apparently.

did exactly the same thing. skipped vista completely. Its nice to use a fresh os with new things to discover

. system is flying, only thing i might do is upgrade from 2gb to 4gb of ram.

go for windows 7, u wont regret it

win 7 is like alighter version of vista,my vanatge score was up on win 7 using the same driver as i did in vista,win 7 is quite good

Windows XP is 9 years old why would you even consider it? Windows XP is really showing its age and I'm glad to see the back of it.Windows Vista is a good O/S but now superseded by Windows 7, which as you pointed out is cheap atm.

Common sense = Windows 7 64bit

. Use the RC for now and reinstall come October 22nd

You will not be able to "upgrade' from the Windows 7 RC to the full release available on October 22nd. For more information on Windows 7 and some of the great features it offers, Microsoft does have a site with whitepapers, tutorials, walkthroughs and screen casts on all the “under the hood” features in Win 7. Check out the Springboard site for Windows 7 on TechNet

At least Dual Core + 4gb ram? = Get 7, otherwise use XP

Get windows 7 is much better then vista .. dont need as much power and wont slow down your PC ./ also why have the old when the new is out very soon
