I have an xp2600+ here that a mate sent me, got it this morning in the post and I havent had chance to try it out yet but im confused as he said it was a barton but im not so sure.

The codes are as follows:

AXDA2600DKV3D
AIXIB0331VPMW

The core is smaller compared to my barton 2800 and has one less resistor, the chip is green (dunno if that means anything)
I did a google and lots of info turns up saying its a T-Bred B. Also found some stuff about remarked cpu's so I did a visual check and it looks genuine
Anyone know exactly whats correct?
TIA :)

Check how much l2 cache it has, anything like cpu-z, wcpuid, or everest will tell you. Possibly even in your bios on an information page.

tbred - 256k l2 cache
barton - 512k l2 cache

Also semprons were introduced alongside the barton cores with 256k l2, so they were really just tbred cores.

Ive had them in the past i always thought green was tb's and brown bartons, the 3200 barton i got sitting in a draw is brown anyway.

I shall get this thing installed, its the only real 100% way to know for sure
im going to do this tomorrow as I cba to mess around now
Im just annoyed with my mate as he insisted it was a barton... :|
Also my barton 2800 is brown, but I havent seen that cpu naked since late 2004 as I fitted that into my shuttle and havent fiddled with it since lol
Thanx for the help guys :)

If you notice in those part number lists on Wiki it appears that the cache codes are the same for Athlon XPs as they are Athlon 64s, so your CPU with a number of 3, must have 256KB and so can't be a Barton. The part code is also listed as a Thoroughbred: AXDA2600DKV3C.

Bartons are: AXDA2600DKV4D and AXDA2600DKV4C (4 for 512KB).

yea bartons are both green and brown. i picked up a couple of xp3200 cpus yesterday at the computer fair for £15 a cpu. hehe guess they are trying to get rid of all their old stock.
xp3200 is still a very good cpu. it does have some muscle behind it.

WOW thats cheap, sold a 3000+ for 50 quid or thereabouts a few week ago! lol. Yea i've had Brown and Green Bartons/Thorntons, Brown and Green Tbreds etc.. theres no special colour.
