xp64 bit

It should be quite nice. I've used it extensively with a newer system than that and I didn't have any issues. The only niggle might be the X-Fi since Creative's driver department is staffed by blind chimps with rickets.

i've just gone back to XP after using vista 64. Performance on vista64 is still nowhere near as good as XP. I saw 8-10% difference in performance on benchmarks, so whilst things will run just fine, i find them to be quicker and smoother on XP

Who mentioned Vista?

LabR@t, Creative list a driver on their site for XP-64 that hasn't been rev'd since 2006 so I imagine it's fairly stable. I'm thinking you'll be A-OK.

There's still some gaps in drivers depending on how old/new your hardware is, but overall it's no worse than XP x86 now, and from what I can tell there's no noticeable performance issues.

How dare you!??

I am utterly disgusted by that remark.

They are not at all blind chikps with rickets...

They are blind Moronic Chimps with Rickets

Get your facts straight before posting here.

Seriously though.

I have been using XP64 for quite some time now and I have no intention of going back to XP32. In fact, my kids PCs are now being moved over to XP64.

If you have say 1 or 2GB of RAM and you use your PC for browsing and the occasional game etc, then there will be absolutely no solid reason to go 64.
However, if you have 4GB or you like gaming, or you are serious about your PC, then sure, go for it.

Many Apps will benefit from XP64. None that I can think of will lose anything because of it... You will either have the same functionality or you will gain.

Some games that will benefit are FarCry, HalfLife as they get 64bit code, FarCry is visually better. In fact, FarCry under XP64 has a bigger imnprovement on its visuals than DX10 seems to have when looking at the oh so wonderfull crysis ( might I add that this happens to look the same on all my PCs whether DX9 or DX10 and whether XP or Vista, but then, I wonder who else fell for the ******** lies ? )

Im digressing.

XP64 has been fine for a long time now.

Any driver issues that remain are mainly for older hardware.
