Hi Guys

Will be building a new rig soon and am looking at getting 4Gbs of RAM as I need a bit more 'juice'.

The question is, does XP-x64 have the same support for software/drivers etc etc as Vista-x64 as I was in a IRC Chat and someone said that XP-x64 didn't really have much software that can run on it, and that I would be better off going for Vista-x64.

Can anyone confirm any of the above?

I have not really used Vista in any capacity, any thoughts/suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

I think Vista 64 has a lot more support for hardware/software than XP 64. Im not sure why, but Xp 64 is still pretty lacking in support.

everything that runs on vista64 will run on xp64

drivers maybe somewhat better on vista64, but generally if a company makes vista64 drivers, they roll out an xp64 one too now

Yeap - but it's always best to make a specific search and download operation before hand just to make sure. I can't go to XP64 as netgear haven't made me any dongle support for example.

Burnsy, you will probably know. Is the licensing the same with XP as with Vista. ie can I upgrade to XP64 from XP32 for no cost using the same activation keys etc?

(It would be a stop gap untill Vista is right for me)
