XP64 trial query

a mate of mine has a disk with XP64 on it but to me it doesnt quite look right once he has installed it how can i check if its ligit or not? without going onto microsoft (just incase its not ligit)
is there somewhere in the system i can check it?

You want to check if a trial version is legit, or if the version he has is the trial?

When you login to the machine, it will say so in the lower right hand corner of the desktop. Unfortunately I cant locate a screenshot to show you what I mean, but if there's no white text making it obvious that it's a trial, then it's quite probably pirated.

You could also just boot off the installation CD again to take a look. The first or second blurb explains that the image is of a time bombed trial.

It could just be RC1 or RC2 trial... they was legit, however wont work after a year (i think?)

yes it will say evaluation copy in the lower right it will evan say it if you change the wall paper
you will need a key to install and it will need activating

if you do not have a key order the trial from MS they will email you a link and in that email will be your key

but check if you have all the required drivers
