As promised, Techland has released a single-player demo for Xpand Rally Xtreme, featuring two distinct rally tracks, Malaysia and Italy, and giving players the chance to try out two different vehicles, each of which can be tuned, set up and painted to suit the driver’s needs. Both the Arcade and Simulation driving modes make an appearance. Arcade mode was created with inexperienced players in mind, who like to drive fast and dangerously without worrying over the consequences. Simulation mode is best suited for demanding players, who want their driving model to be as close to reality as possible, and want to have the possibility of fine-tuning their ride.

Powered by Chrome Engine

Chrome engine, wasn't there a demo going round a while back with a robot or something?

/ Downloading now...

Okay, WS was a simple hack as posted for Xtreme rally at widescreengamingforum.

I have been wanting a rally game to play, but I think it might be better to wait for DIRT. I've only just got Flatout 2 and TMU after all..

just worked out what you are talking about.. think you mean RoboBlitz, which is the Unreal Engine ;)

Not tried it myself - but heard it works...

Tempted to try the game as Ive heard good things about the original - need a rally sim a bit more forgiving than RBR

well that was absolutly horrific, waste of time downloading it, i didnt like the first one this feels even worse.
it might appeal to the more "arcade" crowd, but its not for me, simulation mode is a joke.
there dosnt feel like theres any contact with the surface what so ever, no feedback, nothing, so bland feel.

Just installed this (and uninstalled it after playing 3 times) What was with the installed libraries for copy protection anyway

I thought it looked quite nice, but very very blurry. Sort of like over use of hdr and every other effect possible.

Simulation was quite fun though, seeing how fast I could fly off the track and injure the driver or smash the car up :D

Taken from http://www.glop.org/starforce/remove.php

Epos's method to achieve that

1. Device removal

  • Go into the device manager and show non-plug and play devices. There will be three Starfoce items.
  • Select the first one and Uninstall -> Are you sure -> YES -> Do you wish to restart -> No.
  • Select the second one and Uninstall -> Are you sure -> YES -> Do you wish to restart -> No.
  • Select the third (final) one and Uninstall -> Are you sure -> YES -> Do you wish to restart -> YES.
  • *computer restarts*
2. File removal

open the search window (F3) and look for any of the following files on ANY drive:

sfsync*.sys
sfhlp*.sys
sfdrv*.sys
When you find any of them, remove them.

3. Registry cleanup

Open the windows registry (Start -> Run -> Regedit) and look for any of the following items:

sfsync
sfhlp
sfdrv
If you aren't allowed to delete those entries, right-slick on the item, click permissions, then grant full control over the item. You can then delete ir from the registry.

Again, remove anything even related to any of these items. Be sure to search for KEYS, VALUES and DATA. You will get more hits then just the ones given by the Starforce crew. I removed all trace of them.

Might check this out - GTI Racing which also uses the Chrome (very versatile and pretty good looking for 2003) engine is a very good fun arcade racer by all accounts.

Just tried it out......

Coming from someone who likes simulation racing (Mainly GTL - road racing, but also great fun is to be had in RBR)
This is a pile of pants.

God knows what those installed library's where, probs had them already since GTL is starforce protected :(

very accurate review. I was in exactly the same line of thinking. Like LFS etc and also loved ralli sport challenge.

Them libraries will be on from other games anyway (for me trackmania sunrise) and dont (seem) to have done or are doing much harm

Agreed, complete waste of time. Sorry for the heads up guys :p

The graphics look 6 years old and we have seen it so many times before.
