xpmce cd1, is it home or pro? (want to use a home key)

basically i'm one xp home cd short, but have a valid legal key for it

can i use my xpmce disc 1 and use a home key? or would that not work..

MCE is XP Pro SP2 - while installing it, it'll ask for Disc 2, and then it'll ask you for the 'Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD'. As it's only OEM, they obviously couldn't be bothered to change that!

But I suspect even an XP Pro key wouldn't work, there's probably a different key algorithm for MCE.

i know that if you enter a non mce key, it just installs windows like normal

but i wasn't sure if it was home upgraded to mce, or pro cut down to mce.. (networking things are removed)
