XPS M1530 CPU

Hi guys,

Looking to upgrade the CPU on my xps and was just wondering it would work ok with a 1066mhz fsb chip becuase as far as i know it only supports 800mhz fsb but would a 1066mhz work and just run at 800mhz?

What CPU do you have at the moment? The BIOS on most dells are set to only accept a set range of CPUs. Also a faster CPU may be too much for the heatsink / fan to cope with.

its a T8100 and i plan to upgrade to a T9400 which has a 35w TDP

not really a fan of XPS. i had an XPS and did the same as you and it jsut wouldnt boot. i sent it to Dell and they said dont change it or your warranty will become void!
