So with the X35 on the horizon (which is a beauty) - it kinda has me itching for an upgrade to my XR34, but obviously the X35 isn't an option as it's Gsync.... I can't find any FreeSync/2 alternative with similar specs (HDR, 1440 UW, high refresh). Is there anything on the horizon?

I'd keep what you have.
Nothing is going to be a big enough upgrade over that to be worth the outlay.
