Went to back up my Forza saves last night to memory card. I've had a few games lose saves from the HDD and really dont wanna lose a full day of forza career. Trouble is the forza career save is 32mb.

I'm thinking of buying a Xsata to transfer saves to my pc. Can I copy the saves so they are on the 360 HDD and PC is is it just a transfer?

Thanks

While I don't actually own one, I'm pretty sure it's just a backup device (with standard software anyway). It wont actually remove anything from your 360.

All the write up says it that you can back stuff up onto it to save HDD space, which suggest your moving it. I want to back up but leave the stuff on. Someone here must own one :D

Why not buy a 512mb mem card??, i bought one and moved over all my game saves, profile and also quite a few arcade games onto it. Still have over 200mb of space left on the card.

I can buy a xsata for £13, that I've seen 2nd hand or a 512mb card for £29 ish.

I'm considering the card as my wife now has a profile that she could use the card for. Normally it isnt an issue but forza's saves are huge.

I like to back up regularly, I lost my cloning clyde save once and when on the final level of R6 on realistic lost that too. :(

An XSATA allows access to the drive just like it was a USB pendrive. You can navigate folders, copy, rename, remove etc just liek a standard drive.

Thanks mate I will buy one then for backing up. :)

Andy the drive was on avforums someone selling for £13. Thought it was a bargain.

its handy if you 360 is near the pc, not so if you got to lug it over with power leads because it takes its power from the 360 instelf.

I personally use Team Xecuter Connectivity Kit V2 which comes with a free HDD adapter, Only thing then is you need a sata connection lead in your PC and power is taken from a spare molex, and with sata being plug and play just gotta plug it into the HDD, so your just dealing with the HDD and not the whole 360. It uses the same software also Xplorer360 which is free anyway to download.

My 360 is right next to my pc, so it should be fine.

Nothing against you Danny, as I doubt you would do it, but i'm gonna be watching your score closely now. Xsatas can be used to dl other peoples saves and unlocked all the achievements on a game.

Watch away mate, I want it purely to back up my saves as £30 for a 512mb card is taking the ****. Over half the price of another 20 gig drive!

I'm just a back up nut.

Its all a bit moot now anyway because it seems you cant back up Forza saves. I deleted my 64mb card down to allow the space for the forza saves (38mb total). The game doesnt allow you to copy the data, you can move it but not copy.

That worries me on a game that takes 70 hours of playtime. I guess they did it to counter what you mention but I still like to back up.

XSATA will still allow you to move the save over, it uses xplorer360 software that lets you move the savegame in a raw data way, so you literray move the .dat file or whatever it is over.

DOA4 etc.. dont allow you to move but can still back up using XSATA.

Also gamesaving pretty much got shut down 7months ago with the fall update, so you couldnt do it anyway

Many people have been banned for that.

Itll do it then :) you can also create a entire HDD Backup as an img file - though it will make it the entire 18gb in size even if you have xx GB free
you can then .rar it iirc to get ti to its true file size.

Can't see him using it that way.

Pretty sure dannyjo22 is the kind of player who would actually want to get the achievements himself even if given the choice.

The Viva Pinata weekend pretty much confirmed that for me. :p

I'm aware people have been banned for it, and i'm aware Danny will most probably not use it for that purpose, but i've always kept an eye out on things like that. There are a couple of people on here I know that have used saves, such as the guy who claimed he did Moto GP in a day, it's just not possible :)
