xspc ION pump/res

Does anyone know if I can replace the pump in this?

You can certainly strip it down as VSG did it in his review of it over at Thermalbench. Getting hold of a replacement though would probably be best found out by contacting XSPC support. I haven't seen any pumps like that available anywhere.

I decided this was in the too hard category so have bought a D5 combo.

LoL, tell me where I can get a pump that fits the Ion? If I can I'll sell it now anyway.
OCUK took 18 hours to get me a replacement setup, compared to talking to XSP about a spare pump!

That's good going from OCUK. I contacted XSPC for years but they were very prompt in sorting the problem I had but looking around at recent internet posts they appear to have gone downhill with regards to replying to customers. The pump appears to be the same as the one in the X20 single bay res but I haven't been able to find the pump for sale on it's own anywhere so it's probably only available as a combo or replacement from XSPC directly.

Yes flow rate slowed, temps went up and a lot less swirling in the res. Oh and a slight clicking crackling sound.

You might find if you remove the pump clean it and refit it, it starts working again.

What coolant were you using?

If it does just start working how do I know it won't do it again.

Sometimes the pump gets a buildup in the pump housing which stops the pump starting up. When the pump is cleaned it will work as normal. We see this happening a lot with ThermalTake Opaque coolant, but also if the water/coolant is contaminated. The fault can reoccur if the buildup returns.

It has been replaced now but I'll dismantle to clean it and see if anything can be improved. It was used for 14 months with Mayhams pure H2O. My request to XSPC recommended supplier has resulted in no reply about a new pump.

The ION failure was the only time I think OCUK support wasn't up to scratch as I ended up just buying another unit and then when that one failed I just bought the XSPC D5 Photon 170 Reservoir / Pump Combo V2 and I've not had any issues. I have two ION units somewhere collecting dust now.
