Hi,
Does anyone have any tips for fitting this block on a socket 1155? Seem to need a lot of pressure to start even screwing it in, got a few blisters last night!

The mounting mechanism for this block, quite frankly, sucks.

Are you using the springs it comes with? What I did was forget about the springs and just use the screws and washers and tightened it until I felt a good amount of resistance.

Ah now that's an idea, will give that a go when I get some Arctic Silver and try it again. Doesn't help the new back plates don't stick so you have to sticktape them on whilst you screw it on!

I had trouble with mine but got it fitted fine in the end. It does apply a load of pressure, enough to bend the board from what ive seen. The pressure is why it gets such good temperature control though

If you want when im back from work ill show you how I did mine to put your mind at rest?

Oh cool, so it's not just my board bending then :) Noticed it had been bent from my old coolermaster fan (the size of it probably didn't help). That would be great thanks, so not 100% sure if it's properly fitted at the moment

Waterblock install manual

The springs should be recessed into the dome type nut and then tightend down using the top nut.

The guide is pretty good I think.

This pic may help

I used the springs that it came with. Everything worked fine after i figured it out.

Awesome thanks, did follow the guide that come with it but didn't help! Will wait until my new thermal paste comes tomorrow and try again (and get more blisters!). Thanks again

Remounted it again today, was a little easier not sure why. Bloody thumbscrews though, popped both my blisters from the last attempt!

Not a fan of the mounting mechanism either, managed to over tighten them to the point the clamp plate started to fracture. EK's precise mount posts are lovely to use :)

+1

This is what I did also. Far too much pressure needed to install with the springs on.

I removed the springs, put a extra metal washer on each peg then the nylon washer and tightened till it's a nice amount of pressure. Also it's much easier to thread the pegs into the backplate without the springs.

Much better mount now and not bending the hell out of the acrylic X clamp. I'd say the extra metal washers is optional, I just had some lying around.
