Hello All,

After some other peoples opinions, after having just got an RMA number for the unit.

The unit seems to be emitting a LOUD (as in annoying to be sat next to when it is on the floor next to me) buzzing / resonating noise.

Does this seem normal / abnormal / what could have caused this.

(You may have to turn your speakers up due to sound cancelling on my phone)

I have tried padding around the unit, using rubber washers to no success.

I have also removed it from the case and held it, and the noise is definately only coming from inside the unit (its not resonating the case itself).

Opinions would be appreciated before i set about the task of draining the loop and attempting to disconnect the tubing.

Thanks,
Sellw88

Bubbles in loop, or the impellor on the pump unseating. If you got an RMA I wouldn't worry about it too much XSPC seem to be pretty good with their rma's

Its definitely not bubbles in the loop.

Was just after the fact that somebody else thought it was faulty (reviews now ive looked into these units dont seem promising!)

RMA has been approved by overclockers.

Just been looking into whether it is worth splashing a bit more money to upgrade the pump / res but this came as part of a watercooling kit so not sure how much they could do.

If it's a version 1 Bay/Res unit it does seem to be a known issue with some of them.
I wouldn't let it put you off, only thing I would splash money on is a drain fitting for the loop so if/when you want to remove and swap things around, it's a lot easier to do

Its a version 4 so fingers crossed for a 'Near Silent' unit next (although i dont know how they can claim that with a 42dB figure!)

Will look into the drain fittings now.
Thanks for your help Hakanese :-)

Yeah 42db is definitely an overstatement. Mine is dead quiet; Can't hear it or even feel it vibrating.

XSPCs RMA System is pretty good, so hopefully it was just a dodgy unit.

I've used these in 3 computers, 1 of them was silent from the start, 1 of them was so noisy I was going to return it but thought I'd do it after I'd finished the build so that I could order anything else I might need. After a few days it was quieter, so thought it must be bubbles (even though I'd done everything to remove them) but it was still loud. Then one day it went silent, I thought it was broken but checked it and it's been fine since!

I bought another one for a different build, and it did the same, sounded like it was a jet engine, 3 or 4 weeks later of heavy usage and it was silent!

Well i have one in My pc and build 2 other for my mates. All of them ware silent enough so some people must be really unlucky with those :(

yeh, il be interested, i might have had 2 dodgy ones that have sorted them selves out then :o

i was told by a ocuk employee they would swap it for me no issues, but i had already done my loop (and wanted to play games) to be really bothered :P

So strange mine a few days ago went from near silent to extremely loud. I've just recorded a video to show u what I'm currently dealing with until Monday when I call ocuk up

Had mine 2 days (OCUK system replacing a faulty H100I) had that buzzing intermittently, having seen others say it settles in after a few days I thought no more of it.
After a 2 hours of a Prime 95 run computer shut off.
Rebooted just get windows logged in and shut off.
Reboot into Bios to see cpu temp at 46 deg C and climbing rapidly.
NO coolant circulating DEAD pump!
All cables still attached tried different output lines from PS, everything else works but the damn pump.

DSR H100I on 14th Primarily for pump only running at 900 rpm should be 2300. Buy OCUK WC kit including this X20 750 and the pump is dead 2 days later.
How unlucky can I get!
