Xsplit causing in-game lag and stutters

I've had my new rig for a few weeks now, and got to work capturing a ton of gameplay with Xsplit (Years license with ASUS GPU)

However, with XSplit open, even when I'm not recording, it is causing occasional stutters and random FPS drops, which gets extremely frustrating when getting engrossed in a game, or in FPS games where smoothness is vital.

Are there any fixes for this, or is it a known issue?

What's your spec? I know its quite CPU intensive and could be capturing in the background or just sapping resources.

Check task manager and see what the resource usage is like.

Rig should be able to handle XSplit.

Core i7-6700k (Not OC'd yet)
16Gb Hyper-x 2666Mhz RAM
ASUS Strix OC GTX1070
2x Samsung 850 EVO SSDs (1 runs the game, the other for capturing footage)

I also use Adaptive V-Sync in game as high fps (300+) games like CSGO has awful tearing, and stutters in more intensive games.

Have tried capturing with it off, but no difference.

What resolution are you capturing at? Writing to an ssd? Just thinking of possible bottlenecks.

Playing & capturing at 1080p. Xsplit settings are to capture with x264 (uses CPU) Framerate:60FPS, Quality: Very High (Not enough noticeable difference in Ultra high capturing for me)

I've only got SSDs in my system (2x 500Gb 850 EVO). Boot OS and games on one, video storage and capturing on the other

I did try setting the capture rate to 30fps, which has made the stutters not as severe, but still there. Frame rate drops are still hitting me intermittently though.
