Xtreme Gamer problems w/ Vista

Bought one of these X-Fis yesterday, and installed it in Vista with the 'BETA drivers'. At first, it sounded fantastic, the quality was perfect, crisp and clear. I've switched on my PC today, and the sound is absolutely dreadful. It sounds OK for a few seconds, and then if someone signs in on MSN, the sound coming from Media Player distorts to the point that it stops completely.

I have no idea what's causing this problem, and I'm seriously considering reinstalling XP to solve this problem as I really don't want to be left with a redundant, new sound card.

Any ideas of what I could try, or advice on what I should do?

P.S. - I'm listening on a pair of Grado SR80s, so I'm pretty sure that the problem is definitely with the sound card.

Cheers.

I have the same problem in vista with my onboard AC97 on the dfi nf4 ultra-d.

So I think it's something funny about vista tbh.

I've had mp3's slow down to half speed during playback.

Stutters, crackling, hissing and even crashes. Switched to an old audigy for the time and it's working so far.

Same here with my board, not to mention the drivers causing blue screens.

it says in the problem thingy that there is a solution available.. updated drivers from windows update, but i go look and there arent any.

Sod's law, go figure.. :( i was considering buying a soundcard for my next setup to avoid this problem, looks like its there even with addon soundcards
