XtremeMusic Crackles

Just turned my PC on this morning and found that my sound now crackles when i'm in 'Game Mode' and when CMSS is enabled. If I disable CMSS then it's fine but then I lose my surround sound and it sounds crap. Updated drivers and software but the problem is still there. Checked for loose connections but all the plugs are secure.

This is the first time this has happened in about 3 months.

Any ideas?

Have you tried turning down the input volume or perhaps the 'wave/pcm' volume? I can imagine that if you've got all your soundcards volumes to full, enabling CMSS would cause clipping due to the fact that it boosts sound somewhat.

Just a shot in the dark, I don't have a creative card.
