I really want this X-fi. Maybe now it's just to prove a point a can get it to work, but I've been struggling to get this "auction site" one to work, was wondering if perhaps it's one they got on the cheap and flogged to me. Is it poss that if I fork out for a new one from Overclockers it'll get going?

The problems i had in the past seemed to be driver related, or possibly the irq assignments. I did experience some ultra high in BF2, but maybe for about 5 minutes? That's after about 8 attempts to install, with diff drivers, new xp, diff pci slots, tried so much stuff.

I do have a wonderful nforce chipset on the di inf ultraii-m2, so i guess it could just be my mobo hating the x-fi, but even with new bios, even with vista drivers now, still no luck.

Ideally i'd want to test the card in another comp, but all my friends up here run laptops. I lost patients anyway and listed it on the bay for now, but do i fork out for a new one?

You can test it in mine if you like mate, as my x-fi is on RMA for exactly the same thing as yours - sound cutting out, failing to work after bootup.

If yours does the same in my rig you can assume yours is duff as well.

Cheers mate but it's already listed on eBay, so I might have to ditch it any minute. Thanks for the offer though. You got BSOD's in that file too?

What mobo you running?

Yup i did. Ive got a P5N-E SLI but i thought it was a confilct with my GFX card ( 8800GTS ) as id read of conflicts on the creative forums. I'd happily have had it off you if it worked ok in my board

Well it hasn't got any bids on it. Where bouts you in the area? I'd be happy give it a shot in yours if you want. I'm in a house by myself at the moment haha, gotta find some interesting stuff to pass the time.
