Hi, my xvid encodings seem to be really blocky, I was wondering what are the ideal settings? It wasnt blocky before until I reinstalled the codec because i was having some errors, I encode my nebula digitv recordings to xvid at around 1000 kb/sec.

Also, is there a xvid codec available that allows for dual core encoding so its faster? like the new divx does.

Anything over 900kbps and your good to go...at max of 640x480. If u want to code at huge resolutions then you wil need like 2000kbps or better. More detail on your settings would be good.

Always use two pass encoding, the difference is huge don't use cbr mode. Make sure you have things like quarter pixel and global motion compensation turned on and adaptive+trellis quantization and chroma optimizer on. Also set motion search precision to ultra high, use chroma motion and max i-frame interval at 300. I think that the newest version of xvid has support for dual core, or maybe that was virtual dub. I assume the resolution is 720x576 since its a pal tv recording?
