Hiya folks,

Been having huge problems with the above mail servers blocking all emails from a website I run and despite numerous emails and complaints to them they still block them.

Any suggestions on what to do or how to get this sorted, as a majority of people registering on our site have hotmail/yahoo or btinternet accounts which all use the same mail server :/

SPF record and domain keys might help. Are you able to find out the reason for blocking?

If you fix those, and it's not your domain/server reputation, then it may well be the content of your messages that is triggering their filters.

The error message I am getting is as follows

SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:
host mx2.mail.eu.yahoo.com [77.238.184.241]: 554 Message not allowed - [PH01] Email not accepted for policy reasons. Please visit http://postmaster.yahoo.com/errors/postmaster-27.html [120]

I cant see what could be rejected with regards the content its just a generic registration acceptance email.

The contents of the email are as follows

Hello xxxxxxx,<br />

Try putting the IP address of your mail server in all these blacklists - http://www.mail-abuse.com/lookup.html

If anything pops up - there's your problem. It will also start a long procedure of trying to get yourself removed. TBH in that case it's probably easier to request a new IP from your hosting company.

Are you on shared hosting? If so it may be that someone else on your server has been sending dodgy stuff and had the IP blocked, screwing up that IP for everyone else.

The 554 message says it's something to do with the content. So...

1. What's your subject line - have you tried changing this to see if it's the culprit? There was a time when "Registration Confirmation" was pretty much guaranteed to avoid junk filters; if it's been abused by spammers and added to a filter list, you maight have to change it; make it more specific perhaps.

2. https link? Not encountered it before, but maybe that's an issue with these particular servers [somewhat ironically].

You may also want to experiment with making the link text not the same as the URL [but definitely not another URL, which will flag it as a phishing attempt]
