Yahoo invites itself into Firefox

Mine wasshowing the GOOGLE search, and the TOOLS/ADD does not work.
So, on the left of the search box, the "G" or the "Y" icon, left click it and in the drop down menu, select manage search engines and remove them... mine has ebay yahoo, google, ad a feww other junks.... great if I wanted them but I dont need to be told what I want, we are not a slave society...YET.

If it's doing something in the address bar, it's got to be an addon - something's probably installed the Yahoo toolbar.
As for "feww (sic) other junks", it comes with a handful of search engines and if you don't want them just remove them?
If it only came with Google people would say Mozilla were trying to rail-road you into using Google because they make money from that, if they include more it's bloat or "telling you what you want". They can't win...

More and more apps are installing search toolbars or ebay shortcuts by default these days which is really annoying. Not saying that firefox does but it's always wise to read the options during installation instead of quickly clicking next, next, next, finish!
a lot of junk programs have toolbars with them. Though to make it more annoying, the default option is "Yes, I'd LOVE to install this toolbar, its just what I need!" and 90% of people just go yes, yes, yes, yes, ok, ok, ok during the install process without reading.

Seriously though while you can remove these, the last one you cannot.
Of you cannot on mine anyway, and there is no add-on of any kind either, so Im unsure how to remove that...

If I want to do a search, I wil open up a search engine... I dont need the browser doing things for me... Next thing I know it will be trying to wipe my bum.
Er, yeah. Having a search box is so nannying you - that's why IE, Opera, Firefox, Chrome (merged into the Address bar) all have some search mechanism. Oh wait, it's because people usually want to search, and not having to jump through a bunch of hoops to get to the site is worth doing for most people.
If you really don't want it, remove the search box entirely: right click -> Customize, and drag the search box back into the Customize box.

Had it said "Can I do this" and let me opt in or out then thats fine, but its putting it there for me and makingmy decisions for me.

The majority want it, the option's there to remove it. Firefox has had the search bar since the early days, so it's not like something that just appeared one day - if you don't want it there for the few second it takes to remove it, don't install Firefox.
You're not forced to have either the search box, or the browser (given they make a big thing of searching in general, a search bar shouldn't be unexpected).
If there was a wizard to ask whether or not you wanted every feature, it would be thousands of pages long and take days to trawl through. Even there was opt-ins for some features, odds are remove the search box in its entirety wouldn't be one of them.

You're being ridiculous. It's there because it's convenient. What's wrong with the browser 'doing things for you' if all it's doing is speeding up something which you do dozens of times a day anyway? What will you be criticising next? Bookmarks, because you don't need the browser remembering sites when you can do it yourself, thank you very much?
It's not making any decisions for you. If you don't like the search engines which are there by default, you can change them for options you do like.
