Yahoo! set to default search provider without my permission.

This morning I ran a web search from the address bar using Safari on my Macbook Air and was surprised that the results were presented on Yahoo! rather than Google. I checked my settings and found that the home page and default search engine were set to Yahoo! without my permission which is quite annoying.
Fast forward to this afternoon, I tried another search using Safari on my iPhone and this time I was prompted to set my search engine to Yahoo!

Has anyone else experienced this? What is Apple playing at? I'll decide what search engine to use thank you very much!

I've not had any of this since I just tried a search on my iPod touch, and I wasn't prompted to change my default search engine to yahoo.

I had the exact same thing happen on my iPhone the other day actually.

Thought I was going mad.

Also noticed this on my wife iPhone today but the iPad and mac are still on google. Very annoying if this is being changed somehow
