Yakuza 4

Yes since you can watch recap movies of the previous games, though obviously you will still miss out on a lot and about the more detailed history on Kiryu.

I've just started playing this. It's my first Yakuza experience. But it looks like it could be a very long one. Does anyone know how many hours it takes to get through? It might be worth waiting until I have a good block of time around Christmas.

Ir's absolutely my favourite series ever, it took me 78h to complete the game and some side stuff but I still wasn't done with everything. Unfortunately my PS3 died not too long after;p

It depends on how much time you spend doing substories and side activities etc. I suggest you take it slow, it's a great experience and many side missions are very funny.

I'm currently playing Yakuza 0 on the PS4 and it's also fantastic, the substories are hilarious and the fighting system has been revamped.

One of my favourite substories involved
helping a street artist who was posing as a living statue on one of the bridges in Osaka;p He needed to take a **** and didn't want to scare the children so he asked Majima to distract his audience so that he could slowly creep away to the nearby pizza place;p You could distract them in a variety of ways with some pretty funny results;p

The game requires quite a high working level of Japanese but I didn't want to wait and grabbed the original. Fortunately, I can get by with decent understanding having just passed N3. It's coming to the west at the end of January so don't miss it! The PS3 version won't make it here unfortunately so you could also grab the Japanese version and use a guide if you don't have a PS4. But play Yakuza 5 first;p

Yeah I only had a little dabble. I got Yazuka 4 & 5 on PS Plus but I want to watch the three memory sections for the first games so I know what is going on. Then I can tackle Yakuza 4. I'm glad they left the Japanese voices in. I can pick up some basic words but nowhere near enough to play without the English subtitles.
