I'm so glad I didn't get it on PS4, now I can play it at 60fps with sharper graphics and with Japanese subs without importing:p

Can't wait, it's the first Yakuza game running on Dragon Engine released on PC as they skipped 6 for some reason. Wonder if Judge Eyes will make it.

Watching the trailer and guy smashes a bottle over characters head...

Proper 80's bad ass, sold. :D

Yakuza 0, impulse Steam purchase & yet another backlog game. I got to play one day.

How good is this game compared to Yakuza 0, I bought it the other month and loved it, although never heard of it until recently with people banging on about it, is this one far superior?

It's a remake of Yakuza 2 on the new engine made specifically for PS4 (the one 6 runs on), 0 was made on the old PS3 engine.

The graphics are much better, the combat system is different and battle transitions/ entering shops etc. are now seamless. Basically, it's a really solid rework of a PS2 classic with the series' trademark heat actions, quirky side content, hilarious substories and very solid main plot.

I'm happy Sega decided to bring the series to PC and even more happy 0 got great reviews overall and great user score on Steam itself so hopefully this sells well and maybe we'll get Shin Yakuza some day and 3,4,5 remastered.

Since the game releases tomorrow, here's what I think is a pretty fair review of the PS4 version by ACG as I'm not sure how many websites are going to bother with a PC release of something pretty niche:

Strong points and some shortcomings without showing too much of the combat abilities or story/crazier stuff.

I hope it's a good port, slightly worried to be honest, judging by the requirements.

Quite a lot more to it. No other game on the market lets you play classics at arcades including Virtua Fighter 2, drink real brands of alcohol or eat real food at real restarants, manage a hostess club, gamble, do arena fighting, weird minigames and really funny substories and beat up thugs in ridiculous ways, all that while roaming two famous Japanese districts meticulously modelled after real places:D

At 30$ it's a steal for the amount of content but I'm well-aware it's not for everyone, not a typical title and has its shortcomings so maybe not worth it for some. I was really surprised with Angry Joe''s positive review of Zero and now equally surprised with Mack's for this.

WAB covers most of how the game is, talks about some bugs to be ironed out, a pretty fair opinion I think.

Really? he actually praised a game? I stopped watching that twerp ages ago.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at, not a fan of his and expected him to trash everything as usual and the same from Angry Joe.

Well, reviews are only an indication obviously as everyone has different tastes so whatever.

Is anyone playing this then, is it as good as its made out to be? I really enjoyed yazuka 0 having never even heard of the game before in my life, would i like this new one more?

Hard to say, really. It's just Yakuza 2 on a more modern engine with stuff that really improves immersion. Story is a matter of taste, combat is different and some of its elements are better and some are worse.

All that makes Yakuza good and unique is still there.

Personally, I think that if you enjoyed 0 I don't see a reason why you wouldn't enjoy this one, especially that you haven't played 2 on PS2, but you can always wait for more user opinions and reviews. I don't imagine you'll find many people from Overclockers caring about this game but there are quite a few fans on Steam so check that for impressions.

I'm getting the game tomorrow so can't really comment on how it runs, my DS4 broke and have to replace it beforehand. I played some of it on PS4 and really liked it.

So far it sits at 91% on Steam from 82 reviews but there were some problems with launching, I heard.

Spent some time with the game, it's really good oldschool fun. Not a perfect engine, rather high requirements and some wonky ragdolls (pretty hilarious and fun sometimes) but the districts are incredibly detailed. Combat is just arcade-ish fun with all the stupid stuff you can pull off and loads of heat actions. There's now more weight behind each hit on the new engine. The rest as usual, funny substories and addictive minigames with some arcade classics. The completion list makes you want to eat and drink everyting in each restaurant, collect locker keys, unlock all skills and stuff and for every completed task you get some points to spend on Kiryu's abilities.
As usual with Yakuza, lots of cutscenes and dialogue.

Some screenies:
