So after seeing it mentioned several times on the board, always in comparison to shenmue, One of my fave games EVER. I decided to get this at auction. £7 it cost me. It arrived today, But I haven't had chance to play yet, Had a look at some gametrailer reviews, and i have to say, I'm really looking forward to playing it! It's like a hardass shenmue game lol.

I did see this game at release and never touched it, as i thought it was just a beat em up game, I was wrong. Better late than never though right

Better pick up Yakuza 2 as well whilst the stocks are still there and the price is just right.

And yes, apart from the theme of the story and the combat, the game is pretty much similar to Shenmue in a lot of aspects i.e. the attention to detail and general style of the game.

The second game does have a brief introductions and flashbacks to the first game, so you could cope with it. But I woild definately say play the first though to fully appreciate the experience, aparting from the lousy English acting of course.

Gutted, I bought the game, perfect condition. Put it in the PS2, and I realised....I dont have a PS2 memory card anymore, I sold it with my PS2 fat. Eugh, So i have played it, for 20 minutes, And then turned it off as i refuse to go too far in without saving :D

awesome from what i've seen so far though, Very shenmue with a harder edge. Only 2 problems I have with it, English voices swear too much lol, and the fighting is a pain sometimes with locking on, i've been whacked from behind a few times because a combo has gone straight past someone.

I'm willing to overlook this due to what seems to be a very cultural game, Which is what won me over with shenmue. The cherry blossom scene in shenmue for instance is one scene that will stick in my mind for a long time. I love Japanese culture, it's the reason I'm learning japanese, So that I can visit japan and enjoy it (that and I can play games and watching anime with Jap language :D)

Yeah the English voice dubbing is something you have to get used to for the first game since they try to portray the Yakuza as accurate as they can, although really poor and without much depth. You can get some funny laughs out of it as usual though.
