Yamaha OLD vs NEW R1

Hi guys i the next few months I'm looking to upgrade my 04 R6 and move up to the R1.

If i'm being honest the big bang version look fugly and fat, the engine sound sweeter but was it really any better than the older model?

Which you you buy?

Anybody got the older model 07 and such and had it dyno'd! what kinda gains do you get from them?

any know issues with any of em?

Need to test ride them both really but i'm leaning toward the 07 model red/white bike.

thoughts please.

I do like the 2010 model in the swan yamaha colours or the 50th anniversary edition but I feel drawn to this colour combo!

Can't seem to find one after 2008 even late reg ones as they change the colour scheme after that.

Edit 3: the newer style ones look fat, fat and ugly, but god does that engine sound good! Oddly, when they first came out, all the specs for them (power etc) weren't far off the model it saw out.

Agreed the new ones sound immense, but awful to look at.

Will test ride some soon compare them.

I know of a chap selling a full race system, PC3 with remap & air filter for £1200 for the 07/08 R1 which it tempting also.

I do really want to wait to the start of the new year but thats way off and i'm itching now.
