Hi,

Am a total beginner and never played an instrument before in my life but have been inspired and am very keen to begin learning and have decided on the Yamaha Pacifica 112.

Having looked at a few shopbots to see where I can get it from for a good price it appears there are variations of this guitar, eg: 112J, XJM, etc

What do these variations refer to, im thinking it might be just the colour schemes ?

*update*

Went to Hooters (no rude comments please), a music shop in Watford and the guy in there showed me the guitar, played it and showed me the versatility of it and i'm definately sold on it.

Cant wait to get it now and start learning !

From there I can get the guitar, case, strap, picks, dvd, amp for £239.

i have a pacifica 112, been very happy with it for the past 2 years, nice sound!

Can't honestly remember but will post it when I buy it (maybe tomorrow...)

Fortunately one of my best mates play guitar (very well) and writes his own stuff etc so he is going to help me if needed..

Dude, that is some good listening there.. you might just have earned your mate a new fan

Spread the word I want this guy to make the big time. He is a genuine hardworking guy - fantastic bloke and as you can see he has pure talent.

Cheers though will pass your message on am sure he would be pleased to hear what you had to say.

My first guitar was a Yamaha Pacifica 112. Other pacificas have different hardware etc, but for a beginner the standard 112 is easily good enough!

Very good guitar, almost prefer the neck's playability compared to my USA Fender Strat.

Anyway, I got a 40watt Marshall valvestate amp with mine which was £115 at the time and sounded good with it. I got the Pacifica for £175 but this was all about 11 years ago.

Very good guitar and decent amp for practicing!
