Got a Yamaha YHT 196 surround system, can't get the passive subwoofer to work at all.
I've tested the cable and it works, and I've tried all different audio settings on the receiver.
I tried plugging a working cable from the sub output on the receiver into a working small speaker and didn't get any sound out of it, just a very faint humming holding it to my ear.
The output is kaput? I tried the sub in another output (front speaker output) and didn't get any sound either so perhaps mixing those doesn't work anyways? It seems odd if both the speaker and the specific output aren't working.
What should I test? The system is brand new and bought as a present to surprise my mum... guessing she wont notice the lack of bass anyways since she's used to TV speakers
