Damn, only re-watched Alien recently, he's notable in it for a completely natural performance, great casting as an everyday type of guy in an extraordinary situation.

Everyone is great in that movie but especially the supporting character cast, Hurt, Kotto, Stanton and Cartwright, all totally believable as regular people working together.

Same - though I've watched Aliens a million times I only recall the chest busting scene and the bit where they first leave the ship from Alien and didn't realise he was in the movie.
