Was driving past a local Toyota garage and they have the new Yaris Icon Plus for £129 /month. Comes with 1 years free insurance, 2 years servicing and 5 years warranty.

The spec is pretty good (Bluetooth, rear parking camera, USB, Sensor wipers etc...) Anyone got one or know someone who has? I've got a MK5 54 plate Golf that's done 101k and thinking of putting it towards a new Yaris
 
But.....why? Do you often drive past signs for £x per month for y and think...must get that?

The Yaris is fine, but I'm not sure why you'd want one over a mk5 golf unless there had been a significant shift in your requirements r.e a car.

If you're seriously considering it I'd recommend actually looking at the detail, you may well be surprised at the overall cost.
 
Main reason is I've spent over £1000 in new parts in the past couple of months on my Golf (rear break clippers and disks, wheel bearings, new Turbo, new front coil springs). It's a 10 year old car and fear more parts will need replacing.

If I get the Yaris, after 5 years I can take it back and get another car. It's 0% interest too.
 
£129 * 60 months = £7,740. Add on the deposit and you're almost at £12k.

You're better off buying one if you really want it At least then you'll have something to trade in against when you come to get shot of it.

And before I get jumped on, I'm not against financing cars but in this case it make no sense IMO.
 
I know youthink i'm being obtuse but you really do need to try and think logically about what you're thinking about commiting to.

If you've spent £1k on a cooking golf that should set you up for a while with it - I'm assuming you own it? In which case everything thar you're considering spending on the Yaris is extra expense (over the predicted years worth of cost) - that will add up to a significant sum.

If you're worried enough about the Golf to want to move it on, then by all means buy something japanese....but the likes of the swift is a much, much better idea financially.

Other options for similar money include the mazda 3, focus, Accord, civic etc etc.

Mileage is irrelevant with these unless you're going to be covering about 40k a year in it...if you are then good luck doing that in a new Yaris, you'd obliterate its value
 
I had a Yaris as a courtesy car a few weeks ago and it was a truly horrible place to be. They've really dropped the ball on quality since I had my Yaris back in 2003. Yes it had some toys such as BT and reversing camera, but it was terrible to drive in stop/start traffic..the accellerator was more like an on-off button. Interior plastics were like something out of a 90s Hyundai.

It was that bad that I returned it to Enterprise and swapped it for a Corsa which was infinitely better..it takes a lot for me to say I prefer a Corsa over something!
