Yay, Another Tyre fred...

I've never had the alignment checked on the Mondeo. Does anyone know how adjustable it is? I'm guessing just castor and toe at the front and toe at the rear?

The MX5 is fully adjustable and very sensitive to it and there was a big difference when I had it done to a specific spec (at WIM. TONY WIM GEO LOL). That was at least 18 months ago so I ought to get it checked I think.

I doubt anything but the front toe is adjustable on the Mondeo.

This is the case for most generic fwd cars, which is why I think it's daylight robbery to be paying £100 for alignment on such a car.

Just to add my two pence, I'm not too fond of Elite for alignment. Sure, they have all the machines, but I had 3 different 'original specs' for the 330i on the printout from them over the years; they couldn't seem to identify it properly. Considering it was a fairly run of the mill 330i Sport I find that a little discouraging.

Sorry for bumping this but it seemed more sensible than opening a new thread,

Also looking for some new tyres 225/45/17. First time buying them myself so not sure what I should be going for. Was looking at one of these 2

Dunlop SP SportMaxx RT or Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 both are 114 fitted by HiQ. I assume that since its a Corsa I would be fine with the 91's?

Also would HiQ do the allignment or should I take it somewhere else, getting a bit of drift to the right so think I need it checked.

HiQ couldn't manage to balance a new tyre for me, I thought that was impressive.

I'm going to hi-jack this thread as I'm not very happy with my Avon ZZ3 on the Vauxhall Monaro VXR.

What would people recommend for tyre size 245/40/19 and 275/35/19?

I'm not one for ragging a car around like a lunatic around corners so my main preferences are ride quality and noise followed by grip.

Apologies for the bumpage, but I too agree that it would be stupid to start a new thread to ask the same question. I'm just looking for some new tyres for my '54 plate Focus, as I've noted since buying it that it has three different types of tyre on it, and some are getting borderline (plus I'm just trying to deal with a puncture and a wheel stuck on the hub ). I'm not keen on chucking the car about like one of the "Fast And The Spurious" you see, I'd much rather have fuel efficiency and hard wearing over performance.

The tyres are as follows, Sizes: 195/60 R15 Speed Rating: V

I'm just looking on Blackcircles, and I've noticed that Kumo KH-31's are getting rave reviews, anyone ever used Kumho tyres?

Thanks

1 - Kwik Fit 'Trackings alright bruv' toe alignment changes to something close to pointing forward, ideally with a machine that one day, probably 25 years ago might have been calibrated.

I'd just like to point out that most Kwik Fits have a 'SuperTracker' system, which is very accurate, and provides a print-out of all the figures, and they also get calibrated regularly, which they have to do, by law.

I understand that Kwik Fit don't have a particularly good reputation, and as anywhere, it depends on where you go to what kind of service you get, but it doesn't mean all of them are the same.

For what it's worth, I do work at Kwik Fit, I didn't particularly want to, but it's a job.

He's talking about people who pay Wheels In Motion eleventybillion pounds to do a custom setup.

Nothing wrong with that if you're looking for something setup properly outside of standard manufacturer specs.

My suspenion check and Fast Road setup only cost me £80 at a Honda Specialist and boy was it worth it. That included front and rear toe and camber setup, with front castor also done. But I don't drive a standard saloon car ;)

This was over a year ago and being the opposite side of the country from said garage now I doubt I could get exact settings off the man, so this summer I'll be doing it with a friend up here on a flat garage floor with some string, rulers and calipers :D

OK, time has come to order a set - and I cannot decide.

Going from Fox' original susggestion:

or

Both will be excellent, theres so little money price wise between them thats not a factor.

So I guess my question is....which one would you pick and why?

I'm looking for good all round performance and comfort and low road noise if posseeblay :)

Thanks!
Jake
