So the email just landed, apparently I have been sold to Zen. The last 12 months have been fast, reliable and uneventful following the transfer to Exascale, Zen being PPoE and more expensive for a slower package (was on £29/m for 1.2/1 was decent, not to mention the EE 100GB SIM for £1/m) doesn’t fill me with happy thoughts, probably time to look at Sky or if I do have to go PPoE Aquiss.

We’re writing to inform you about an important upcoming change to your broadband service.

Yayzi Broadband customers currently connected via the CityFibre network will soon have their service transferred to Zen Internet — a highly respected UK provider known for its award-winning customer support, reliability, and technical excellence.

This change is part of our commitment to ensuring you continue to receive fast, stable, and high-quality broadband.

Why Zen Internet

Yep received the same.

Have been chatting with others and their main guy on Discord.

They are setting up a new company called NuFibre, and anyone who wants to stay with this new company can do.

Although not said, I reckon Yayzi have been offered a sum of money for their existingt customer base and they have thought too good to turn down. Then took that as an opportunity to start up under a new name.

I'd be happy with Zen I think, as far as I've seen they aren't quite as fantastic as they used to be but they're still "solid".

From No One we got shoved onto a company called Home Telecom who are a shambles be glad you didn't get sent there haha.

Presumably CityFibre don’t want to deal with them any more

Word salad. Every ISP signs a deal with a CPE supplier, has a CRM and advertises their services.

I got the mail too, and am waiting to be switched to Olilo on Friday.

Have still received two e-mails from Zen today (same content) telling me that they'll be switching me in the new year and I don't need to do anything. I trust that this will just be maybe an old list that they're working from that Yayzi provided them but I raised to Yayzi just to make sure. I can also see in the Yayzi portal that they invoiced me on Monday (which is when the switch was arranged) and the DD is still in place their end. Given that it's for 1st - 31st December, I've flagged it with Yayzi to make sure that they don't continue to take the DD (should have been cancelled on Monday I would have thought?).

It’s amazing to me that anyone who lived through Liam’s time with Yayzi and the multiple failures, broken promises and the absolute cluster duck of the previous migration to Exascale would choose to go to Olilo knowing it’s the same person doing the same thing all over again.

Good luck!

Zen are good, been with them for many years now, have then as my main and more reliable line alongside virgin 1 gig.

To be fair, Liam was always straight with me directly, I spoke to him several times on the phone before joining up (before CF were in my area), several times after... And there were some bumps in the road.

That said, those few bumps that I experienced personally were dealt with within hours, and I had got a second VM backup line. so I wasn't without connectivity. He was open and honest - and seemed to hold his hands up to mistakes.

I have no doubt that mistakes were made, and learned from, and a lot of things were down to lack of resources and knowledge at that time. I have two decent connections from different providers at home for redundancy, so I have a little flexibility - and as there's no contract, I can switch to Zen (ir anyone else) If I wish in the future. I like Zen and what they stand for, and I've been a customer of theirs in the past.

Maybe it's coming from a small MSP / IT consultancy background many moons ago, but I like the idea of having multiple smaller ISPs closer to customers (business and retail) able to provide a service and innovate on service and customer experience in a different way than just the megacorps that don't really care for a couple of the customers getting the short end of the stick in support with frontline customer service people that don't always have an understanding of the service they're supporting and are just reading scripts or workflows?

Liam does come across as personable, and he does a very decent apology in between his actual job (the NHS are actually quite arsey about second jobs usually, but that's not my problem). But if my builder repeatedly cocked up, especially making the same mistake multiple times after promising he had learnt from the last time, failed to meet the already sub standard promises he had made, was actively barred from selling his suppliers products due to non payment, even when I had paid him, then set up under a different name promising he'd he'd do a good job and learnt his lesson, i'd probably consider him a cowboy, not ask him to have another go, and it's no different for me in this case.

I had a similar background, worked for a few ISP's, ran my own business for years and did consultancy, I like a small provider/underdog etc. for similar reasons, and value the personal service, for that Aquiss and AA are pretty much the gold standard, Zen of yesteryear was decent, however they have made a few questionable choices in regards selling off IP ranges/pulling peoples fixed IP's that they have held for decades (if you get bored, have a look at the video Zen's founder posted advertising the sale if he hasn't taken it down... i'd love to know what he was on at the time) and then trying to make them chargeable, that was poorly communicating that to staff who initially had no clue, even after checking with 2nd line and then management, yet customers had emails stating as much, they've also had a few networking annoyances of late, which while minor, all add up to not being very 'Zen' of old. If you want cheap/DHCP/fast, Sky is something like £16/m for 1/1 after offers/cashback, last I knew they were still predominantly UK based for TS/CS, alternatively Martin at Aquiss has 6 months half price on a 12 month deal and his knowledge/responsiveness is second to non, he's also incredibly honest.
