I just received 2x1GB of OCZ platinum DDR400 PC3200 this morning with the intention of putting them into my slightly ageing computer and filling up all 4 slots to get 4GB.

The computer consists of an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe with 2x1GB of Corsair Value Select (DDR400, PC3200) memory. Problem is after I've put them in and booted into windows (Win 7 Pro x64) the RAM shows up fine however the performance drop is massive. Literally the computer lags when I pull a window across the screen!

The bios is set to Auto and at the moment is running the memory at 200MHz instead of the usual 400MHz. Running at 400MHz caused the computer to complain about a memory error.

Am I missing something really obvious? The computer is so bad at the moment that I may very well just sell on the memory again as the extra 2GB is worthless if the computer is so slow....

CPU-z says the Processor (x2 4400) is still running at 2.2GHz etc.

Doesn't matter now. It appears that my Mobo has issues with 4GB of ram so I'll just sell the new stuff on and get a new PC in a couple of months....

So much for "upgrading"... :p
