Checked my funds today and to my surprise, I can easily upgrade my whole rig, so forget the phenom 965BE, I'm going to finally join the i5 brigade. High five _o/*\o_ :D

So by various accounts, Sandybridge still seems to be better than IvyBridge. What should I do, Sandy or Ivy? If I go for the 3.4Ghz 2500K, OEM or retail? £10 more to get 3 years warranty, or £169.99 OEM 1 year warranty, no box?

And what's up with the prices here, am I missing something? Why is the OEM more expensive for the OEM 3.3Ghz than the retail 3.3Ghz, when the OEM 3.4Ghz is cheaper than the retail 3.4Ghz?

The Ivy 3570K and the Sandy 2500K are near enough the same price.

I suggest you have a read of the threads in this section of the forum to help you decide which to get.

If you can overclock the 3570K to 4.5GHz, for example, that's around the equivalent performance of the 2500K at around 4.7GHz (give or take).
