Yep they are here alright

You mean the 22-10-2010 if it's the Friday..

lol, yeah, my bad, even forgot the numeric day, only thing I could remember was the weekly day.

So from the looks of it, the 6850 really gonna be going head to head with the GTX460 1GB and the 6870 going head to head with the GTX470 judging from the price. Let's hope performance and overclocking would be disappointing :p I'd have to make the decision which one to get between the GTX460 1GB and the HD6850.

6850 Problem is the 1 x 6pin connector which will limit at maximum of 150 watts. The reference card will likely consume 128 watts at full load. The GTX 460 1GB might win here with the overclock.

Why would you downgrade to a 6870?

Seems lunacy model naming to me, much like Nvidia's old 8800GTX>9800GTX which was effectively a slower card, ignoring PPW.

im not, im waiting on the 5870 replacement. just keeping up to speed on the 6850 6870 in the mean time. Ive been waiting on a release date for the 69** cards so been checking ebay and 5870's are going for 200 bucks

You getting a 6870?

Nah I picked up two gtx465 which were moddable to to gtx470's for £149 each (sold the mafia 2 for £20) and added a couple of water blocks onto them.

I'm in the Nvidia SLI camp for a while now :D

I doubt I will be looking at replacing my gtx470's for some time. Both clocked to 830 they are pretty powerful ;)

Hold on, stupid question..... just stumbled in here as I'm still on a 4870 GPU. Are we saying that a 6870 is slower than a 5870? That's a bit underhand isn't it, most people will go "oh 6870... that's higher than a 5870".

I'm wanting to upgrade my GPU, I'm guessing this is not the card to go for?

I'm possibly going to go for 2 5850's or maybe 2 GTX460 :D

Apparently 1 5850 beats at 6850 hands down because the 6850 is a replacement for a 5770.

This is correct as far as i'm aware the 6850/70 will replace the 5770 and 5830

then the 6950/70 will replace the 5850/70

Just remember we know nothing really until all the reviews r out but i can't see a 6850 with 1 6 pin power supply spanking a 5850 somehow
