havent changed monitors for about 4 years and totally out of touch, I'd like a 24" widescreen that plays BC2 and BF2 (all FPS games), I have an ATI 5870 if that helps. current screen is 5ms refresh and an LG 22" I think runs at 1280X1024 but the new card will obviously do a lot more so need a good monitor

thanks

I'd really recommend the Samsung 2443BW at about the £220.00 ish mark if you can find it. I've been using this monitor for a long time and I can't complain about it. There are other 24's but the 2443BW is at a good resolution @ 1920x1200 and a 16:10 aspect.

Most of them are 1920x1080 abd a 16:9 which isn't quite what I want.

But hey! Just a suggestion buddy

thanks for the reply and advice, will look for that one, good advice re 16:10 as opposed to 16:9

I agree about the 16:10 (but we seem to be in the minority)

1920x1080 is 2.07 MegaPixels (Most monitors are based on this 1080 format, because theyre cheaper to make)

1920x1200 is 2.30 MegaPixels, so you get about 11% more pixels and a tighter pixel spacing, which is better for close-up monitor/gaming I think

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of 16:9 on 24"+ screens either. That Samsung is a sound recommendation, but if gaming is your main focus I wouldn't really worry too much about 1920x1080 vs 1920x1200. I would also consider the BenQ V2410 Eco and the 24" Iiyama screens featured on Overclockers.
