Hi guys, just got my bfg 8800gtx oc through the post today. Installed nicely.

Getting a 3dmark score of 8250, any good?

I have an x2 4400 (at stock...for the moment at least)
1gb ddr 400 ram
ga k8n sli pro.

I understand a lot of people getting a 3dmark score of 9000+ on gtx's, Is this simply because of my cpu, because the cpu score was only 1700ish.

cheers
jt

At stock?

Getting clocking it and see how much the score goes up tbh ;).

Clear indication. (of the CPU bottleneck that is)

Agreed, my rig at stock CPU and GPU scores roughly the same. OC'd I'm nudging over 12k. 3DMark06 is still a good indication of system performance despite this not always reflecting game performance.

pretty sure you could have asked that in the big 3D Mark thread rather than starting a new one. 8K is pretty carp for a GTX by the way. ;)

A C2D + 2Gb DDR2 will give you a massive boost in games, far more than 3DMk06 can reflect.

If an upgrade isn't possible, then an extra 1Gb of ram would help eliminate any stuttering in games.

me got 8800GTX yesterday.
also got x2 4400 o/c'd 2.65, get 9652 3dmark06.
could do with some faster RAM to get higher clock but you need to know when to stop when it comes to upgrading. im done now till vista/dx10 games are actually a must have reality.

I have'nt tried o/c'ing the gfx card yet. hopefully get up to 10k.
