Didn't quite believe the news yesterday, so thought I'd check with Gametap. Surely they couldn't be offering all of Codemasters new/upcoming titles, games like Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, Clive Barker's Jericho, DiRT and Overlord, for free? Seems they are, with Gametap confirming today that yes, as long as you're willing to put up with the odd commercial here and there, you can play them all for free on their ad-supported section.
We all like to bitch and moan about the negative effects of advertising on gaming. I know I do. Let's pause then for a second and give thanks for a rare instance where it's actually going to help you out.

The games havn't been put up yet AFAIK. But this sounds pretty awesome. :D

Does this prove that either

1. Games are ridiculously overpriced

or

2. Adverts pull in a hell of a lot of revenue

?
a bit of both tbh, advertisers are realising that the games communty is getting a stronger and stronger market

Maybe ads are shown start of game when u load it not playing and when ** closing. Im guessing. If so then np by me since we see all the ads by ati nvidia etc as well.

yea when you close i bet it's like a demo where you close the game and there is a screen for like 5 secs before it ends

If the ads fit in to the game then I am all for it, added points for humour and taking the **** if they can, if its just blatent advertising i.e. sticking up a billboard in the middle of a field in a medieval period game, then it will fall flat on its face.

i would say yes!!! great!!...

but after rf online, archlord... and so on... codemasters will be never the same after its micromachines days.

they couldnt pay me to play half there games now!

Second one.

Games start at £17.99-£24.99 new these days and the prices drop very quickly.
