Hello to you all this is my first post on the forum so again hello to you all.
Ok my system is almost built and im just short a CPU and two graphics cards. The cards are set and im getting two 280gtx (55nm) but just not totally set on the CPU. Was going to get a Q9550 but thinking maybe a E8600 might be a better bet, but then the multi threading games are going to appear quite soon ie Far cry 2. So help me Obi Whan your my only hope

You've answered your own question. If multi-threaded apps are imminent then get the 9550. Simple.

Also depends on your budget. E8600 is a good chip to have for the price, clocked to 4Ghz.
