The past 2 months, I've just not been into games, this is probably my worse stint. The only games I can stomach for playing for more than an hour at the moment are Dark Souls, Witcher 3 and MAYBE BF4... Maybe...

I just start playing something, 5 mins in, I'm bored.

I tried WoW Vanilla private server, made a couple of mates, but ultimately don't have anyone to regularly play with. I've tried the new Black Desert Online, which don't get me wrong, is amazing. But it quickly felt like an online single player game... If you get what I mean.

I'm looking for a good community based game, I'm CRAP at MOBA's, am in no shape or form an 'active' gamer these days. I just want some good casual gaming fun in a game with good mechanics and fun behind it.

Thoughts? I feel like I'll soon be dropping below even that of a casual gamer. And if so, is there any point in keeping the PC?

My thoughts are that there is nothing wrong with the games but perhaps your attitude towards them could be better. We are actually going through a fantastic spell of games the last while and I think you could be missing out on a lot of fun.

When you say you are “bored” - are you really trying to get into it or are you not really engaging with the game, or worse, just looking for problems? Whatever you are looking for, you will find it. It sounds like you’re not really engaging with some of the games.

Everyone is moaning about the new Hitman game because it’s episodic and it’s not instantly orgasm-inducing and *wah wah wah* but I was geared up to make the most out of it [preparation, anticipation] and . . . it’s amazing fun, for me personally. Just like GTA V and Borderlands 2 and Bioshock and Crysis and half-life and every other game that people moan about being ‘boring’. A game can only bring you to the water. You have to do the drinking yourself (luckily it's nearly Paddy's day).

I’m reminded of a line from a song: ‘When you’re bored, you’re boring’. Ask yourself, are you doing absolutely everything in your power to make the most out of the game? Me neither, but when I get home, I will, I really will.

Try Heroes of the Storm, it's quite an easy going MOBA for beginners and games only last 20 minutes, plus it's free to play.

Take a break and focus your time towards something productive.

This. Doesn't even need to be productive, just do something different for a while until you actually feel like playing something.

I'm similar with games at the moment, I get bored and they don't interest me. Only problem is, I'm not sure what to do with my time so end up being bored most of the time :(

Have been, with a home Ambilight setup (Pi 2B, Arduino Uno 3 and a HDMI grabber).

Could do... Might be a fun project.

;)

I noticed Humble Bundle includes Cry Engine 5 dev kit and resources for $13 this week. I haven't got a clue with that sort of thing, the last thing I did was a map for HL1 in Worldcraft.

Damn I am tempted though, have had a game concept in my head for ages and wish I had the knowledge to make it happen.

If you like MMO keep an eye on Uthgard.net as they might re-open a DAOC Freeshard in the near future it used to be excellent before it closed. I play ESO at the moment but it's only a stop gap until classic DAOC comes back online.

Humans get bored of everything and ultimately have evolving needs. Find something new that fills your need might be something you never expected to enjoy. Try some wild camping/bush craft, go for a walk? climbing even i don't know but you may find yourself to be pleasantly surprised by how much enjoy doing something different.

Wait it out and let the phase pass. If you're not in the mood then you're not in the mood. Otherwise, if you're determined to try something, I'd recommend StarCraft 2 if you're looking for a good community oriented game. Play the single player and then try some 4 vs 4 maps or some challenge missions.

Take a break from tech, go get into a series on TV, read some books, go exercise in the evenings more, hell even go out to friends. Your brain is telling you it wants diversity rather than staring at a monitor all day.

Dark Souls 3 is just around the corner, so maybe focus on that. I found RPG Maker a good little diversion from gaming when I feel like you do.

Hopefully DS3 will be better then 2.

The Division is the best game I've played for some time, well that and xcom 2.

It's normal, I've had times when I went months without playing. I even dropped gaming for two years at one point. I got sucked back not that long ago because of Steam.

Take it easy, if you don't feel like playing just let it go for a while. After all, it's supposed to be a pastime not a chore;)

Know the feeling quite well. I think you need to look out for a sort of 'clan' if they still get called that now days. Gaming in your own is fine, but made so much better with friends. Have a search and also find people on here to play with.

I know the feeling. I recently started playing hearthstone and am enjoying it although I suck at it. It's like nothing I've played before but having finally started to get half decent at witcher 3 Gwent I thought it's worth a shot.

Lay some laminate flooring, guarantee you'll be yearning to play games after that!

Or on a more practical level take a game you've played before and approach it from a different angle. Currently doing that with my current Fallout 4 replay, trying to go the melee route and avoid using guns where possible. Puts an entirely different feel on the game.

If you can get it to run, how about Flight Simulator (FS9 or FSX). Grab one of the cargo or passenger add-ons so you have some objectives to meet. The new(ish) American Truck simulator is also good fun.
