Yet another 2GB... G.Skill ZX OR OCZ EL?

Same thing really... ZX's are great kits, as are the OCZ. It's then a matter of personal preference.

Rather than start a new thread, I just got some of the 2-3-2-5 OCZ stuff, in the BIOS what do these numbers refer to, I've gone into the memory settings and there is more than 4 groups of numbers that I can change, all I know is that the first 2 is the CAS.

CAS 2
TRCD 3
TRP 2
TRAS 5

I'd go for the OCZ because they look nicer.

Yes I know I have the ZX..... the OCZ was £220 when I got these.

Its nice stuff though, DDR480 2.5-4-4-7 @ 2.8v

You got some good sticks there ;).

As I said before, it will come down to personal preference. The ZX has a nasty coloured heatspreader which is something to note but it at least stands out.

The OcUK prices are good at the moment so you have a choice. One good thing is that these Gskill's are exactly the same as the OCZ's, Mushkin's and better than the Corsair offering in the same category. You won't go wrong with any of the big brands.

I'm surprised GeIL hasn't got its line of high end 2GB kits out yet tbh.

When we getting your test results on the OCZ Plat's Mr.Smids. *waits in anticipation*

Fingers crossed for 2.5CAS @ 250MHz+ :D

Not for a while I'm afraid... comp is currently out of action in a rebuild. Still waiting on other parts. :( Hate relying on just my laptop - I also bought CoD2 last week but cannot play it until the comp is rebuilt! ARGH!!! Oh well :(

I'll give CL2.5 at 250MHz a shot yesterday. I have to rebiuild my brothers computer tomorrow as its a mess (to put it lightly)
So I'l eave this one memtesting trying to get it to work.

Hopefully will be possible, I havent really pushed them yet, so will be nice to see what they will do, I could do with some good luck after loosing a harddrive the other day......

Yeh they seem to be doing well. 7 passes of memtest the other night (got to test 6 on the 8th time around), left it running whilst I had some things to do in real life ;)

The heatspreader truly is yuck, I was thinnking of getting the HZ just because it was black, but thnk I made the right decision in the end.

No probs smids man, i won't be getting the OCZ's till next week anyways. :)

PinkFloyd man, lol... i completely agree, those heatspreaders are one of the main reasons i've decided on getting some OCZ's. Good thing OCUK have them on special this week.

The OCZ also feels beter made.
When I took out my 1GB set of OCZ Platinum to replace it with this G.Skill I was shocked at how heavy and well built the OCZ felt up against the G.Skill.

That's just the OCZ copper heatspreader. Copper is loads heavier than Aluminium.
