Well I've had problems with my card since I received it, around Christmas. These problems ranged from artifacts to Crashes but now I've lived with it for too long...

My Current rig:
q6600 @ 3330Ghz
Asus EN-8800GT 512MB @ 676/981/1720
600w StealthXstream
Gigabyte P35-DS3R

After playing CS:S for around 10 minutes, the game freezes, eventually comes out with some bright colours.

I don't understand why my card is being so awkward, the Overclock isn't the top-end of what the GT can achieve, quite the opposite but for some reason the card doesn't take it. I've read the temperate, its at 56* on Load, 41* Idle so can't be over-heating.

Should I RMA? I've never been through the process before so wouldn't know what to do. Can I just get a cash-back? will they send me a new card?

I'm loving the look of the 4850's atm so may hold out for a 4870.

Thanks for reading, Pedro.

Nope, not factory overclocked. Default is 600/900/1500. I'm guessing I've just been unlucky and got a bad clocker so may as well leave it at default.

i had this a few times on my 8800GT, was thinking to RMA but it has not happened for a few weeks now...

will they find no fault and say i lie and not send replacement?

Eh, so you want to RMA it as its not a good clocker.

What he said, you cant send the card back for a replacement because it wont overclock as well as you would like it to,if it was giving you problems at stock then fair enough, when they test the card at stock settings and find no problems you would only get the card back anyway plus a charge for testing.

Aye, in this scenario you just have to put up with the luck of the draw, sell it second hand and get a 4850/70 if the GT is not doing what you want. If you stick the GT at stock however and it still crashes then you have a right to RMA it, but only then Pedro.

Subzero Off Topic: Did you used to play Call of Duty 1 with this name in blue and yellow colouring by any chance?.

Yes Call of duty 1, Wolfenstein enemy territory and many other games using this name.

Hmmm I think I know you :). You've (or someone using this name) called me a cheat a few times or wound me up before, I can't remember but it was trivial stuff. I used to be "{FP}MonkeyLuvver" FP stands for FreePorn. I'm sure you (or this person) was part of the FP forums for a little while also.

sorry i was not clear, i was running it on stock for a while (as i am now)

so stock for the OC2, every game ive tried for a week was freezing for mabye 5 seconds, then it resumes, and BLAM! colours are inverted, in BF2 it looked like a cheat lol, all the grass was transparent blocks and the trees were gone! supcom/grid/fear all occured, but no probs for 2 weeks..
